The Snow/Ice Event of 2011

Snow in Georgia .... Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! I love snow. This snow was a little different, though. It started on a Sunday night (January 9) as sleet .... lots of sleet. It changed over to a mix of sleet and snow. Eventually, it turned to just snow, but added in some freezing rain the next day. So, we had a layer of ice, a layer of snow, and another layer of ice. Interesting ground cover. :)

When the snow started on Sunday night ....

Our back porch

Bushes in the front of the house.

Snow on the porch.

My favorite image from that night. A tree branch with the snow falling.

Snow on the pines on the 10th.

The princess in the snow.

The Ice Penguin .... when you can't roll the snow up for a snowman, improvise!

Jonah

Love this picture of Jonah.

What happens to snow when smashed over the head??

Another sweet Jaydin picture.

These were from a couple of days after the original snow, but I thought they were cool shots.

As the snow melts, an ice bridge forms.

Cool (ha ha ha) shot, huh?

The ice over the rain gauge.

The last couple are for my mom. She loves seeing the snow in the woods.

The woods at sunset.

This was a very unique snow for us. The snow stayed on the ground for over a full week and there were snow patches and piles for almost 2 weeks. I've never known it to do that in Georgia ... even when we had the blizzard in 1993. I think ... the snow was waiting on some more ......

We'll see. :)

Next time, I'll share some pictures of my princess learning to sew and of the way the snow looked after it had been on the ground for a week.

Live the life, and live it well.
